27 May 2020: The end of Grigor Pasha’s first season as manager of OFC Pomorie has brought with it the shock news that he has resigned.
The news has surprised followers of football in Bulgaria’s Black Sea region. Pasha had been reported as enjoying his job and had recently signed a two-year extension to his contract.
Pomorie finished the 2019-20 season only 3 points above the drop zone, though they were placed a respectable 9th out of 16.
For whoever succeeds Pasha, the position at Pomorie looks enviable. The board’s vision of a top-half finish by the end of the 2022-23 season looks well within reach.
And the strength of the club’s 2020 youth intake means that the successor will have no fewer than eight promising youngsters available, at least three of whom might be deemed ready to make a contribution in the coming season.
Perhaps the reasons for Pasha’s decision will emerge in due course…
